Rep. Lakenoff and Local Officials to Speak at Orcas Senior Center Saturday, September 9, 2023
On Saturday, September 9, State Representative Debra Lekanoff will visit Orcas Senior Center to talk about state and local efforts to meet the current and future needs of older adults and their families. She will be joined by San Juan County Council Member, Cindy Wolf, and Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) Volunteer Coordinator and Orcas Island Health Care District Commissioner, Pegi Groundwater.
“As we acknowledge our growing senior citizen population, we must address the need for a strategic plan to address the services required to help that population. Likewise, we have an increase in military veterans requiring sustainable and accessible lifeways.” Rep. Lekanoff said after introducing her first bill in the legislature.
In celebration of National Senior Center Month, the event will start with music and refreshments at 1:30 PM. Speakers will commence at 2 PM. Orcas Senior Center is located at 62 Henry Road in Eastsound.
